Recreation and Fitness

Ready to play, workout, or learn a new sporting activity? There are plenty of after dark recreation and fitness options for every College of Charleston student. Pick one that suits you and get moving!

Fitness Centers

  • 24 hour access to the East Shore Athletic Club located at 80 Wentworth Street – FREE to all full-time students
  • Fitness Center - 2nd Floor Stern Student Center, featuring nine TRUE treadmills, nine TRUE elliptical trainers, a combination of nine upright and recumbent exercise bikes, a full circuit of Free Motion resistance training equipment, and a small complement of dumbbells and medicine balls. Hours: Monday – Thursday open until midnight, Friday – Sunday open until 10:00 pm
  • After Hours Lap Swimming - Stern Center Swimming Pool, Monday – Thursday 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Open Recreation

Where: Johnson and Silcox Centers – 30 George Street
When: Mon. – Thursday open until midnight, Friday- Sunday open until 10 p.m.
What: Basketball, volleyball, badminton, racquetball, and squash courts, indoor soccer, indoor track, workout area, locker room, and showers.

Afternoon Kayak Paddling Trips

There is no cost to participate in any of the four afternoon paddling trips, but a charge of $25 will be incurred if registered and do not attend.
